Steven-Pershing-BioPicI was born on April 14th, 1971 at the Atlantic City Medical Center and have lived in Egg Harbor Township up until November 6th 2002. Ever since the age of seven I have always dreamed about making movies and after the invention of home video camera my career began.

I grabbed my father’s brand new state of the art full size VHS video camera and began to shoot my first movie with my friends Brian and Aaron Papakie. It was called Friday the 13th :The Cardiff Massacre. The movie was only five minutes in length but very funny. After making two sequels I shot a forty-minute movie called Machine. This Terminator rip off had a cast of four and was the first movie I made that had music and sound effects. Then in 1988 I made another movie called A Nightmare on New Street. Fellow students in High School really went wild for it. It was then I realized I might actually have some movie making talent.

After graduating from Egg Harbor Township High School in 1989, I began to work at the FAA Technical Center as a Roads and Grounds Specialist (Landscaping & Construction). It wasn’t that I lost my love for making movies; it was just that the money was there and I was good at it. But then one day the boss stuck me down in a 30-foot tank and had me shovel human waste. The whole time I was down there I kept thinking… I was put on this earth to make movies and make people happy, not to shovel poo poo. So I climbed out of the tank and went looking for a new job. I found one working at the Atlantic City Race Course in the Full Contact Television department. My boss, Chris Roney, took me under his wing and taught me everything I needed to know about Television. So after growing up in a movie theater and working in television, I decided to use everything I have learned to make a movie.

I had already begun writing STEEL SPIRIT during my family’s darkest hour in 1993 and finished the first revision in 1994. I had just begun to shoot the movie in 1995 but stopped because something was wrong. The movie sucked. I figured the screenplay needed some changes so I went back to writing board. But before I could rewrite the STEEL SPIRIT screenplay I was involved in a skiing accident. Seconds after the accident I had lost the feeling in my legs and at that time... my life flashed before my eyes, and it wasn’t very exciting. Seconds later I got the feeling back in my legs but my back hurt like hell. For the next 13 months of my rehabilitation I rewrote the fourth and final revision. Then with the help of my friends Matt Lonzi, Stephen Pagano, Dexter Weeks, John Murphy and Brian Papakie we set out to make a 90 minute Action Adventure Feature. All of it shot with a single Hi-8 SONY Handycam.

After completing STEEL SPIRIT and having a successful run at the Tilton 9 Theater back home, I decided to move from Egg Harbor Township, NJ to Los Angeles, CA. Here in the City of Angeles I hope to make my mark as an actor with STEEL SPIRIT at my side and an angel on my shoulder.

UPDATE: Currently I live on Melrose Hill just East of Paramount Pictures. To date I’ve worked as a Production Assistant (PA) on three shows; Breakin All The Rules, You Got served, and Countdown  (Pilot). I was also featured on “24” and costarred on 10-8 “Officers on Duty as Deputy Dan Hanks. Since costarring on 10-8, I’ve studied with The Groundlings, Playhouse West and currently study at The Howard Fine Acting Studio.
